Gianmarco Piccinno is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Laboratory of Computational Metagenomics (PI Nicola Segata) at the CIBIO Department of the University of Trento, Italy. He joined the lab in 2019 and completed his PhD in Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Trento in 2024, where his research focused on the characterization of the cancer microbiome and microbial associations with cancer progression and therapy outcomes. His expertise spans large-scale microbiome analysis, statistical methods, and machine learning approaches applied to microbiome-association studies, with a particular emphasis on integrating shotgun metagenomic data with clinical cohorts to identify microbial biomarkers of cancer response.
